FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

If you have questions about how the student card works or the eligibility criteria, check the answers below. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always contact us through the “Contact us” section in Tuudo.

The card is available to all full-time students. This means that if you are studying for a degree at a university or university of applied sciences, you are entitled to a student card. Upper secondary education students, such as high school students, are also eligible. Open university students, postgraduate students, and those not studying full-time are not entitled to the traditional student card.

If your student card is not visible, it may be due to a number of reasons.

At the beginning of the semester, you must register as present and, in some cases, pay the related fees. After that, the card becomes valid on the first day of your study right. For example, if your study right begins on August 1, the card will not work during July. After registration, there may also be a short delay of 1–3 days before the card appears, so please wait patiently and make sure to register as present in good time before the semester starts.

Graduating students should note that the validity of the student card ends on the day of graduation, as your study right expires then. The card will not work after graduation, even if you have registered as present for the entire semester and paid the related fees. This is determined by legislation, not by Tuudo.

Updates to Tuudo or your institution’s systems may temporarily prevent the card from working. Check your Tuudo app for update notifications. The card may also be affected by temporary connection issues, which we aim to minimize by keeping your student card stored in the app’s cache.

When you graduate, your student card will stop working, as your study right ends on your graduation day. Even if you have registered for the entire semester and paid any related fees, the law does not allow the use of the student card after graduation. Tuudo displays the card based on information received from your institution, and unfortunately we cannot reactivate the card after graduation. Please make sure that you do not continue to use, for example, discounted student tickets after graduation. Tuudo cannot be held responsible if you attempt to use them once the card has expired.

Tuudo is more than just a student card app, and unlike other card providers, we always operate in cooperation with educational institutions. If your institution has chosen to provide the card through Tuudo, you’ll find it conveniently in the app’s card wallet. If the card wallet is not available, it means that your institution has not chosen to offer the card as a service through Tuudo.
